Winding down

Postby marla on Mon May 10, 2010 5:36 pm

Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to devote to this site. I have far too much else going on my in life to give the site the time it really needs so it's time for me to move on.

If you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing the domain and trademark please email me. Otherwise, if no buyer is found, the site will not be coming back up after Shavuot as a forum. I'll leave the content up for users to search through but there will no option to post new threads or answer existing ones.

Thanks for understanding.

Marla,
Thanks for all the great and important work over the years.
If you can not find anyone interested in purchasing the trademark etc, would you at least consider issuing a call for volunteers to moderate the forums?

Telly here, I 2nd the thanks Marla. I have a different question. What do the users think about moving this to Yahoo Groups which is free? I'd try to moderate it with the help of others.

Thanks.

Honestly... I don't know. As long as I own the domain and trademark, I'd feel responsible for the site's content and even when there are moderators, I'd have to review the posts fairly regularly. I guess I'd consider it if I felt the moderators were trustworthy.

I definitely plan to the leave the content of the site up indefinitely (for now) for others to review.

There are many free forums out there where you can create and manage your own for free. Would that be a good idea?

I'm not to comfortable with the yahoo thing. As people could use user ID's to start online relationships. We wouldn't want to have another "Faigy Situation" on our hands/conscience.

So... we're not shut down exactly while I'm working on the sale of the site. But I have changed the permissions of the site so that "approved" members can still post. If you'd like to be approved to post, email me.
